Age UK Sheffield hosts two Rosemary memory cafés across Sheffield. This page explains what a memory cafe is, who the cafés are for and how you can come along and visit one!

What is a Rosemary Memory Cafe all about?

We want to encourage people experiencing some memory loss, mild to moderate dementia and their carers to come along and join us for tea, coffee, cake, and conversation at one of our cafés across Sheffield. All of our cafés are open fortnightly (see below for more details).

The cafés have been created as a safe, welcoming and enjoyable place for both people who are experiencing some memory loss or have a diagnosis of mild to moderate dementia and their family members, carers and friends who may be feeling a little more isolated than others. There'll be activities to engage, inform, stimulate and entertain everyone. Plus, it'll be an opportunity to make new friends, keep active and feel more confident.

Both the Dore and Bents Green Rosemary Memory Cafés are two-hour long sessions where we enjoy refreshments and activities ranging from music and craft sessions to farm animals and chair yoga. Each session is different, and everyone is welcome. While the sessions are free to attend, small donations are greatly appreciated as they help to keep the services running.

Please note, although the cafés listed below have different names, they are all very similar and are all run by our charity, Age UK Sheffield. If you have any questions about our Dementia Cafés, don't hesitate to get in touch with Kathryn Stones by e-mailing: Kathryn.Stones@ageuksheffield.org.uk or calling 07825 597 948.

Would you like to volunteer?

We rely on our amazing volunteers to help us with our charity, and these cafés are no different! We need some help between 1:45pm & 4:15pm on the Tuesday and Thursday afternoons listed above in both Dore and Bents Green.

Duties will include:

• Helping to set up the room before the session
• Helping with some of the registration administration
• Meet and Greet Café members
• Offer refreshments
• Sit with cafe members to have a chat and possibly engage in activities together.
• Clear up the room after the session has finished

Volunteers will need to be able to talk with people from all walks of life, be non judgemental and supportive, and flexible in their approach.

If you're interested in volunteering to help with our Rosemary Memory Cafes then we would love to hear from you! Please get in touch with us using our volunteering page. Our volunteers are a huge part of our charity and we greatly appreciate the support they offer us.
