Dementia Home Care Transformation Project
Enrichment for the Elderly and Age UK Sheffield are working collaboratively to transform the support of people living with dementia by home care providers. Home care Enrichment for the Elderly dementia stars will look to embed dementia understanding and inspire home care workers across Sheffield to support people living with dementia and their supporters better. Working with front-line home care workers and home care providers across the city we have tailored dementia stars to weave people's real life experiences throughout the training and give care workers the tools they need. Giving staff an opportunity to explore real life examples shared by people living with dementia currently. The training is interactive and experiential, coupled with the fantastic online toolkit created and accessed at Age UK Sheffield will embed the dementia understanding further.
The toolkit will be accessible at any time, embedding learning and creating a resource that is up to date and useful for care workers to re-assess,develop and refresh knowledge to ultimately improve the experiences of those with dementia accessing homecare. As part of the online toolkit care workers will be able to access peer support and work collaboratively to support people living with dementia, sharing best practice and experiences. We are working with home care providers across the city to pilot both the dementia stars training and online toolkit by September 2021.
