Dementia Café (Charge-FREE)
Situated at Wednesbury Museum & Art Gallery, our Dementia Cafe invites locals to unwind and socialise regardless if they are living well with dementia or a respective carer. We also invite ex-carers to join our cafe as they are key members in our dementia community.
The cafe currently runs monthly by our Dementia Advisor from 10:30am-12:30pm. Come and join us at Wednesbury Museum & Art Gallery, Holyhead Rd, Wednesbury, WS10 7DF.
Each month we pick a different theme to give focus to the group, if needed. Previous themes have included the 'Windrush Generation' and an 'Afternoon Tea Party'.
To register your interest, please contact memorycare@ageuksandwell.org.uk.
RISE (Charge-FREE)
A 16-week programme for people living with dementia and their carers to engage in a range of different activities they can replicate at home. Each group is limited to 10 people so there is a focus on your own personal goals. The programmes will run intermittently across Sandwell. We have successfully finished our first run of the programme in Wednesbury.
Quote from a carer: "[When making a music playlist] I was sceptical whether my husband could recall any important songs as he cannot even remember the song we danced to at our wedding. To do this activity and for him to remember the song we always played on our holidays has left me feeling warm and uplifted. Thank you for bringing this memory back to the both of us"
To join the programme or be put on a waiting list for your town, please contact memorycare@ageuksandwell.org.uk.
