Music Cafe - For people living with dementia and their carers

Published on 18 September 2024 03:24 PM

Age UK Salford is launching a new music cafe for people living with dementia and their carers in conjunction with Manchester Camerata’s Music in Mind Programme. The programme works with people across Greater Manchester using music-based therapy principles to help improve the health and wellbeing of participants.

The music café will take place on Friday mornings at Chandos Sports and Social Club in Weaste, with the first session on Friday 18th October.

The weekly café will be free to attend and will allow people with dementia to communicate, express themselves and have fun using percussion instruments.

Mary Ann Byrne, Director of Dementia and Community Services, Age UK Salford said: “Music is a great way for everyone to get involved, enjoy themselves and truly connect with each other. The music cafes will bring an uplifting, meaningful experience for those taking part.”
