Local charity supported by Salford Quays based technology company LIMA
Age UK Salford was recently awarded a cheque for £1,250 by LIMA, a local leading IT services provider. The funds were raised during LIMA’s 20th Anniversary celebrations and will contribute significantly to improving the quality of life of older people living in Salford.
Across England, a staggering 1.9 million older people often feel social isolated, vulnerable and alone without the support of family and friends. Age UK Salford is committed to helping older people live healthy, happy and fulfilling lives and to making Salford a truly Age-Friendly City.
One initiative the monies raised will support is a new social group at Critchley Community Hub in Swinton, – Coffee & Company. It will provide older people in Salford the chance to meet new people, have a warm drink, chat and find about social activities they can get involved in locally helping to combating loneliness and social isolation.
Sue Fletcher, Assistant Chief Executive, Age UK Salford said: “We are delighted to receive this generous donation from LIMA, it will help our services enormously. At Age UK Salford we actively work to improve the health and wellbeing of older people, their families and carers. The Coffee and Company initiative will help relieve the loneliness and isolation epidemic which is heightened at this time of year.”
Lisa Thornton, Director at LIMA said: “We’ve been a proud supporter of Age UK Salford for a number of years and are delighted to once again make a donation to such a worthy cause.”
