Heritage Open Day - Critchley Community Hub

Over 40 people came together at Critchley for the recent Heritage Open Day. There wasn’t a spare seat available as the theme local extraordinary women was explored. Helen Antrobus from The People’s History Museum gave an inspiring speech on various local women who were involved in the suffrage movement in Salford and Manchester including Elizabeth Wolstenholme-Elmy who was born in Swinton.
Watch the film, a local community art project featuring Susan Mottram who spoke about Edna Critchley, the founder of Critchley and Sue Fletcher and Nichola Swettenham. Paul Sherlock, Chair of the Local History Group also spoke about other local prominent women.
