We've had another very busy year and are pleased to share our Annual Review 2016 - 2017.
Our services providing practical support, information and advice, opportunities to stay fit, active, learn new skills and build companionship have been accessed by many more older people living in the borough than the previous year.
As the older population increases in numbers, so do their needs and this is clearly reflected in our growing statistics over the past 12 months.
Here are a few highlights:
- The number of contacts we received increased by 18% to 55,317
- We assisted 17% more women in the last year and 25% more men. This is a direct result of our projects designed to help alleviate social isolation, particularly in males
- We received 26% more telephone calls than the prior year
- We are now working with 25% more over 75s and 10% more over 85s
- We responded to the local need to help improve doorstep safety and delivered an extremely well received crime prevention camapign with the Safer Neighbourhood Team and Trading Standards
- Our Nightingale Service, supporting people home from hospital, helped improve the quality of life for 409 older people
- Our three busy Social and Wellbeing Centres saw an impressive 24,000 attendances of 74 weekly activities
- One-to-one technology sessions increased by an outstanding 47%
- Our 140 amazing volunteers contributed 16,686 combined man hours across all our services
