Context
The Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge (BHR) Falls Prevention Working group (FPWG) agreed to update the falls prevention strategy.
Across 2021/24, the NHS have invested more money to increase the size of the community falls treatment team. This includes the access to strength and balance exercise services and more support for care homes. This is to reduce ambulance call outs and hospital admissions. The refresh of the fall’s strategy is to ensure our residents do not fall, fully recover from a fall and reduce any risk of falling again in the future.
Our Vision Statement: ‘To stop the harmful effects of falls, to allow people in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge (BHR) to live freely, for longer’. The vision will be achieved through collaborative working to deliver a full falls pathway with seamless service lines. This will mean services will be easily accessible, through clear referral conditions, for the BHR health, social care professionals, and residents to navigate.
The Key Priorities: Earlier resident identification; Adequate access to falls prevention interventions; Development of our fall’s prevention workforce
Under each priority a number of statements (9 in total) have been proposed, we would like to understand whether you agree or disagree with these statements.
Your voice is important to us, so please complete the 3-page questionnaire, that can be answered namelessly if you so choose. Space has been provided for you to write additional comments or ask a question, especially if you think we have missed an opportunity for change. Many thanks for reading this and getting involved.
