Afghan Appeal

Can you help the families fleeing from Afghanistan?
Havering Council has teamed up with Havering Volunteer Centre (HVC) to appeal for essential items for Afghan refugees arriving in the UK.
The Council has provided a shop in High Street Romford as a drop-off point for donations from residents. These will then be sent as part of the Voluntary and Community Sector Emergency Partnership (VCSEP) to areas across London that have the most people in need.
HVC is asking for the following items:
• Children’s shoes (all ages)
• Children’s clothes (all ages)
• Colouring books/pens/pencils/paper
• Children’s soft toys
• Nappies (all sizes)
• Baby bottles
• Nappy cream
• Baby clothes (all sizes)
• Adult shoes (all sizes)
• Adult clothes (all sizes)
• Toothbrushes
• Toothpaste
• Sanitary products
All items should be clean and of good quality. Residents are also asked to bag their items into age groups/sizes – to help speed up the relief process.
The drop-off site will be open on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 September, 10am – 5pm, at 40 High Street, RM1 1HR. There will be a drop-off zone on Angel Way, before the car park.

“We are calling on our residents to help play their part in the Afghan relief effort by donating essential items to the HVC.
“Havering has a proud history of supporting those in need and I have no doubt that our borough will once again rally to help families forced to flee from the dreadful situation in Afghanistan.
“Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated.”
