Age UK Reading Dementia Programme

Age UK Reading is developing groups based on the Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) model, supporting older people living with mild to moderate dementia.

Cognitive Stimulation is the only non-drug treatment recommended to improve cognition, independence and well-being by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

 Where is MCST held, and for what duration?

We are currently running 3 MCST groups, one in Central Reading and two in Woodley.

Woodley - Tuesday 11:00 - 13:30

Caversham - Wednesday 11:00 -13:30

Central Reading - Thursday 11:00- 13:30

Woodley - Friday 11:15- 13:45

The face to face groups run once a week for a recommended for at least 24 weeks but clients can stay as long as they wish to.

Who can apply for this service?

Our Dementia groups can accommodate people with or without a formal dementia diagnosis; please speak to our friendly team for further information.

 Is there a charge for this service?

This a chargeable service with payments done one month in arrears via bank transfer. Face to face sessions are £25 each (including a light lunch)
