1) Group Activities Development Co-ordinator
This role oversees the development and running of all of our group activities . It is a chance to own an important project and really make a difference to the lives of older people.
Responsibility for:
- The work of Group activity staff and volunteers, the management of Group Activities provision and to support the lead for organisational volunteering in the recruitment, training and deployment of volunteers supporting these services
- Services include all of our social activities which include STAR Clubs for older people. MCST Dementia Clubs, and our Pop in Coffee morning. It is our goal to develop more in the future as clubs become established and self-funding.
- This key post will be given a high degree of responsibility and accountability to deliver day-to-day services and to develop the organisation to help make Reading a great place to grow old.
Aims of the role:
- To support the CEO to improve and develop our organisation through new ideas and projects to take our services forward.
- To ensure high quality service delivery in all activities to meet the needs of older people in Reading.
- Lead and motivate good teamwork amongst the staff and volunteer team.
- To run and report on our dementia services according to the MCST framework.
Salary: circa £28,600 per annum, pro rata for 20/25 hours PW.
Note. One year contract. We expect the scope of this role to be reviewed within the next 12 months It is likely to continue but not in the same form.

2) Dementia Programme (MCST) Facilitator
Location – Woodley on a Friday.
Service – Activities and Clubs
Salary - £12 p/h (5 hours per week)
Job Summary
To deliver a specialised programme of engaging, fun and stimulating activities based on
NHS approved MCST model (Maintenance of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy), to improve
memory, cognitive function and quality of life for people living with mild to moderate
dementia.
Main Duties include (but not limited to):
1. To plan sessions following the MCST programme (full training will be provided) in
such a way that clients are fully engaged and feel included.
2. To welcome clients with a positive and caring attitude and ensure a safe and
inclusive environment that caters for the needs of people with dementia.
3. To demonstrate a caring and understanding attitude towards of all individuals with
dementia attending the programme.
4. If relevant for the session, collect and record fees for each of the sessions, provide
clients with receipts and keep money in a safe place until handed over to the
relevant office staff.
5. To complete relevant feedback and general paperwork related to the MCST
programme on a weekly basis and submit, in a timely manner, to line manager
when requested.
6. Support the Day Services Coordinator to complete relevant paperwork that
recognises and records improvement and progression of individual clients.
7. To encourage and support all users to participate in providing feedback to the
Service through the completion of surveys.
8. Attend monitoring meetings when required to provide feedback on the progress of
the programme and clients’ feedback.
9. To prepare and serve snacks and food during the sessions, including hot/cold
drinks, snacks and meals.
10. To prepare and arrange furniture and equipment to create a safe environment;
ensure the venue is left clean and tidy with furniture returned to original layout or
put away in storage.
11. To deliver effective induction activities to help clients settle into their session,
make them feel safe in a friendly environment and show them what Information
and Advice the Service can offer.
12. To encourage regular attendance through engaging session experiences.
13. To take and submit to main office the register on a weekly basis; report any
absences to line manager and main office.
14. To support and direct club volunteers to maximise the positive experience offered
to attendees.
15. To produce a short evaluation report at the end of each 24week programme
