Oxfordshire Age Friendly Creative Ambassadors
Welcome to the Oxfordshire Age Friendly Creative Ambassadors project.
What does the AFCA volunteer role involve?
We want to ensure that older people’s views and voices are at the heart of our Oxfordshire Age Friendly Creative Network. The AFCAs are a lived experience group who offers feedback on creative ageing projects and activities.
The role of AFCA’s is flexible and dependent on members availability and interests and includes:
- Giving your thoughts and ideas about what creative activities are of interest to you in Oxfordshire, what is missing and how things could be improved.
- Helping us to find new ways of supporting people aged 60+ to get creative across Oxfordshire.
- Sharing your ideas and opinions on creative opportunities across Oxfordshire and encouraging other people aged 60+ in your local community to tell us what they think and want too.
- Attending AFCA meetings (in person and/or online) when you can and taking part in visits to different creative places and spaces across Oxfordshire subject to your availability.
- Representing the AFCAs at the national Creative Ageing Lived Experience Network (CALEN) and influencing national policy of creative ageing.
What will you get out of it?
Previous opportunities have included theatre trips, visits to exhibitions and heritage sites, joining Zoom meetings to give feedback on website design and creative ageing projects, and occasional meetings to catch up with each other and share ideas.
Joining the AFCAs offers the opportunity for your voice to be heard and influence creative ageing strategy both locally and nationally.
AFCAs will automatically be added to the Oxfordshire Age Friendly Creative Network (OAFCN), receive the monthly OAFCN e-news and be invited to attend AFCA meetings both on-line and in person.
What sort of person are we looking for?
The AFCA project is open to people living in Oxfordshire aged 60+ who would like to help shape age-friendly arts, culture and creativity in Oxfordshire. You do not have to be an artist, have previously been a participant in a creative project or visitor to a cultural venue. It is free to join and all you need is an interest in arts and creativity.
What will we expect of you?
There is no minimum commitment of time, but you will be asked to share contact details and other relevant information with us and to attend at least one AFCA activity or meeting per year. This role does not offer regular opportunities to meet up in person.
