Activity and group volunteer (Community Links Oxfordshire)
Activities and groups are organised for all older adults in Oxfordshire offering social interactions, friendship and fun.
What does the activity and group volunteer role involve?
The volunteer role may include meeting and greeting clients, families and carers, helping to provide refreshments, accompanying people as part of an organised walk and simply offering light conversation. You will work with members of the Community Links Oxfordshire team.
What will I get out of it?
- Sense of pride – Being able to see and hear first-hand the positive impact your involvement is having on someone’s life.
- Social connection
- Developing new skills – We will ensure you feel fully supported and knowledgeable to volunteer to the best of your ability.
- Being part of your local community
Who is this for?
This role is perfect for anyone who is interested in wanting to help people improve their social connections and wellbeing. Along with being approachable, empathetic, easy to talk to and organised.
What is expected of me?
The time commitment is varied – some groups run weekly, some monthly. We are looking for someone who is able to offer a regular commitment although we appreciate that volunteers may have other responsibilities. Where this is the case, we will work with you to agree a pattern that that works for everyone.
