12 stories of Christmas - Day Eleven
Published on 22 December 2024 08:00 AM
This festive season, we’re bringing you 12 stories of Christmas. These stories tell of the amazing things that the Age UK Notts staff, volunteers, funders, and you have done to support older people across Notts & Nottinghamshire this year.
Day 11 – Spreading the Joy!
As we are almost signing off for this year, we send thanks to our staff, volunteers and donors who have helped deliver our services that mean so much to local older and/or vulnerable people.
It’s always lovely to share the impact we have on our community, let’s start with Margaret a wonderful volunteer who donates all the prizes she wins from competition entries to our Advent raffle. Through contacts at Boots, Karen (blonde) pictured with Margaret provides the remaining prizes for our Advent raffle on behalf of Boots. This year, Margaret and Karen have worked together to provide Advent Calendars for all the spouses of our guests at Sybil’s where there is a wonderful Boots goody behind every window for them to use. What a wonderful treat for them to enjoy.
The campaign we shared with Dunelm brought much joy….
I was Mrs Claus yesterday delivering a few of my clients the Christmas gift bags (one of my clients put their new slippers on when i was there) so lovely to see and the happiness on their faces, absolutely fantastic donations. :) Thank you.
– Client Support Worker – Age UK Notts
"Today has been a wonderful day full of surprises! We had a very kind delivery from Age UK Notts dropping of gift donated through a project arranged by Dunelm. Over the past week we have had lots of lovely cards and letters in the post, as part of Age UK Notts “Dear Christmas Friend” campaign! Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity! These gifts will bring lots of Christmas joy to our residents and the cards have sparked some fab conversations"
– Acorn House Care Home
The feedback about Dear Christmas Friend across the care homes and hospitals is truly heartwarming:
“We’ve had so many Dear Christmas Friend letters! They’ve been great. They really help settle residents.”
“The letters are fab! They’re great for staff, too. We’ve learned lots about difference cultures.”
Whether you are donating to our shop, supporting a fundraising campaign like the Best Foot Forward sponsored walks or sending festive cheer with Dear Christmas Friend campaign every penny really does make a difference.
