Pal-entines Quiz

Published on 13 February 2025 01:40 PM

The Age UK Norwich Pal-entines Quiz, held on February 12th, was a great success, raising an impressive amount through donations and a raffle. The event, attended by 10 teams of local corporate groups, businesses and friends and family, took place in the iconic Dragon Hall, a historic venue that set the perfect atmosphere for an evening of fun, laughter, and friendly competition—all for a great cause.

Reaching a total of £1,170 in funds raised, the event was made possible by the generous support of sponsors Clapham and Collinge and the National Centre for Writing. Their contributions helped ensure the night was not only enjoyable but impactful, supporting Age UK Norwich’s mission to improve the lives of older people in the local community. Reflex Theatre hosted the event, keeping the energy high with their engaging and entertaining presentation style.

The quiz featured rounds like “Famous Pairs,” “Guess the Year of the Love Song,” and the hilarious “Taylor Swift Vs Shakespeare,” where teams had to decide if a romantic quote was from the pop star or the Bard. The competition was fierce, with teams showing off their trivia skills and working together to tackle the fun challenges.

Catering was provided by Ginger Lilly, offering delicious food throughout the evening, and the bar, run by Dragon Hall, ensured everyone had a refreshing drink in hand. The raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses, added an extra layer of excitement as the crowd eagerly awaited the draw.

The funds raised will directly support Age UK Norwich’s vital services, such as befriending and social activities for older people, helping combat loneliness and improve their quality of life.

A heartfelt thank you to Clapham and Collinge, the National Centre for Writing, Reflex Theatre, and everyone who attended. The success of the Pal-entines Quiz demonstrates how a fun, community-driven event can make a meaningful difference in the lives of older individuals. We look forward to future events that continue to foster generosity, connection, and love.
