Age UK Norwich parkrun Takeover

Published on 02 July 2024 12:23 PM

The event aimed to promote the charity's services to the community while celebrating the importance of physical activity and gaining new fundraisers.

Parkrun is a free, weekly, community event held in parks and open spaces around the world. Every Saturday morning, parkrun events host a 5-kilometre timed run or walk, welcoming people of all ages and abilities. Participation is completely free, and the inclusive atmosphere encourages everyone to get involved, whether you're a seasoned runner or simply looking for a gentle stroll in the park.

Age UK Norwich staff and some corporate partners from Hatch Brenna hit the Catton Park course on the 29 June in branded gear amongst the other runners. Other members of staff volunteered by marshalling the route and handing out race tokens at the finish line.

"Run for a Reason" flyers were distributed throughout the event, sparking conversations about how the community can support Age UK Norwich's vital work.

The day proved to be a resounding success for both organisations. Age UK Norwich raised awareness of their services and secured valuable donations and new fundraisers, while Catton Parkrun welcomed the highest number of runners since their New Years Day run – 422 in total!
