New £5 Fee to Keep Clubs Thriving
Published on 20 December 2024 02:12 PM
Age UK Norwich is introducing a new five pound club fee for select clubs starting in February 2025. This decision comes after careful consideration and reflects the rising costs associated with running these clubs, including venue hire, utilities, staffing, and necessary resources. Additionally, previous funding to support these groups is ending at the close of 2024.
“We understand this change may raise questions,” says Jamie Price, Head of Operations at Age UK Norwich. “The £5 club fee will ensure the continuation of our high-quality activities and social opportunities at Walking Football, Riverside Multi Games and Arty Party 1 & 2.”
To ease the transition, January 2025 will serve as a grace period for questions and donations. The fee directly supports the core costs of running these clubs, ensuring their continued operation and high quality. Age UK Norwich understands financial hardship and encourages anyone worried about the fee to contact them to discuss alternative arrangements. Additional payment options like upfront payments and loyalty schemes are being explored for implementation from April 1st onwards.
To help continue the running of other clubs and offer the same experiences you've come to expect, Age UK Norwich is kindly requesting donations. These contributions will allow Age UK Norwich to maintain their current operations and avoid implementing a static fee. Unfortunately, without sustainable funds to continue these clubs, they may need to explore the longevity of each club on an individual basis.
FAQ sheets are available at all affected clubs and on the Age UK Norwich website to answer any further questions.
Age UK Norwich remains committed to providing valuable activities for older adults in Norwich. The above changes will allow them to maintain the high standards members expect, including a wide range of activities, social connections, and continued support.
