Have us in the palm of your hand – encouraging over 50s to sign up for help and support by text

We are encouraging over 50s to sign up for its new text service, SMS Vera. It will allow people to seek help or support, hear about new clubs or services, or give feedback to the charity.
Jamie Price, Head of Operations at Age UK Norwich said “We want to make it quicker and easier for people to keep in touch with us, whether they’re attending clubs, using services or need some specific help or support. Most people are used to communicating quickly and conveniently by text and many prefer it to a traditional phone call, so we’re really pleased to be starting 2024 with this new way to contact us. Please sign up so we can drop you the occasional text, and when you need us, we’ll be in the palm of your hand.”
Age UK Norwich needs permission to contact people by text. To sign up for messages please call 01603 496333 or email enquiries@ageuknorwich.org.uk
The Age UK Norwich text service doesn’t require a smartphone, as messages can be sent via SMS as well as WhatsApp. The service is free of charge (although texts sent to the charity will be charged at the standard network rate). People can unsubscribe from the service at any time by contacting us via the options highlighted above.
