Diverse, united and PROUD - Age UK Norwich celebrates pride

Joining the thousands attending 2024 Norwich Pride, Age UK Norwich were front and centre outside the forum offering support, information and a whistle or two to the residents of Norwich.
Starting early, the team worked hard to get set up ready to face the hundreds of interested potential clients. With trustees and current clients dropping by all day to see the team and support them.
We handed out whistles, bottles of water, lanyards, badges, beach balls and Kettle chips, kindly donated by Kettle to those visiting the stall and encouraged people to sign up to our activities and clubs or look at ways they could help us raise money with our exciting upcoming fundraising activities.
From 10 - 4 the team saw hundreds of interested people, speaking about the intergenerational work the charity does, as well as booking information & advice appointments and handing on vital information. Bringing along the new national LGBTQIA+ booklets, many a group and individual found the guidance and support they needed from our stall.
We saw the stars of our recent campaign, Proud at Any Age from Oasis Norfolk and took interest in our upcoming specific LGBTQ+ events as well as running a raffle, with a chance to win a cream tea for two and a trip in a Bentley, generously donated from The Maids Head Hotel Norwich. Winners of the raffle will be contacted shortly.
We also heard from members of the public, coming up to the team and thanking them for their support, kindness and expertise in helping their family and loved ones. Some of the feedback included:
"I just wanted to come up and say thank you for all you do."
"You have been amazing helping my mum."
"You're brilliant, we would have been lost without you."
As we count up donations and review the success of the event, we are all left excited for next year and a chance again to protest and support the LGBTQIA+ community.
