Short clips and an interview with our CEO Dan Skipper spoke about cuts to programmes and services to local and national support. The programme took presenter Paul Brand across the country looking at council struggling to fund services from social care through to potholes and community projects.
Our segments saw filming take place at Corton House, where we deliver our activities and falls prevention classes as well as our fitness classes delivered by Abbey Plattern.
Looking ahead at how we might, as a society, tackle the issues and live better into older age, ITV spoke to Age UK Norwich about the preventative approach to encouraging independence and enhanced mobility into later life. Looking at activity groups to tackle loneliness and increase activity, to work with the innovative GaitSmart technology, looking at how improvements to posture while walking can drastically reduce the risk of falls in supported living environments. The program heard directly from Age UK Norwich clients, on the importance of their independence and how continuing to attend activities like our movement and exercise classes offer an affordable and fun way to maintain this.
We also heard from those recovering from falls as well as those who have not only improved their physical health, but improved their mental wellbeing as well, by engaging more with the community. As well as clients explaining why fitness and prevention are important to them.
