Local businesses raise over £8k for Age UK Norwich
Published on 21 August 2023 01:40 PM
A team of cyclists from 6 local businesses joined together to cycle 100 miles to support Age UK Norwich.
They were taking part in the Tour de Broads cycling challenge, the biggest cycling event in Norfolk, which offers the chance to enjoy some spectacular scenery along the way.
Setting off at 8am from Little Plumstead, they completed their 100-miles in four stages with breaks every 25 miles. The famous flapjacks and refreshments were enjoyed and welcomed by all, giving their energy a boost to continue with the challenge.
The hot weather conditions during the second half added another layer of difficulty but they overcame this obstacle and succeeded. The cyclists were pleased to receive a free Adnams beer at the end of the event to celebrate their hard work.
Thanks to their brilliant fundraising efforts, and the contributions made by 5 businesses as cycling jersey sponsors, together, the team has managed to raise over £8,000 so far. The final total will be revealed by the end of the week.
It is an incredible result which will support our vital services, helping to make Norwich an age-friendly and inclusive city where older people can feel safe, healthy and connected.
