Access to Health Services concerning residents

Our CEO, Dan Skipper joined the Radio Norfolk breakfast team yesterday (19th January) to discuss how access to health services are causing a concern with local people, many of whom have been waiting months for assessment or treatment.
He said “We’re now seeing people change their routines and behaviours as they are worried about what will happen if they were to get ill or injured. Some people have stopped leaving the home as often, which will only impact their health in other ways. The delay and uncertainty is also meaning reduced quality of life for those who desperately need treatment to improve their day-to-day life.”
“Health is paramount to a quality of life. We’re hopeful that the Integrated Care System (ICS) for Norfolk & Waveney starts to make inroads into some of these issues and delays, as our age profile in the county means that simple, easy access to maintain health and wellbeing is going to be critical now, but also in the future years as our population continues to age. We therefore need to help and support people more effectively to remain active, independent and healthy – not just when in crisis. That needs a new approach.”
Age UK Norwich offers a wide range of support for people recently out of hospital or recovering from illness or injury.
