What is Homecare?

Homecare is a caring service that enables a person to stay in their home as they are getting older, recovering from an illness or surgery or disabled. Age UK Northumberland provides this service in towns and villages across Northumberland.

Homecare services include:

• Personal care, such as help with bathing, washing your hair, or getting dressed
• Homemaking, such as cleaning, yard work, and laundry
• Cooking or delivering meals
• Health care, such as having a home health aide come to your home

You can get almost any type of help you want in your home.

• Home comforts: you can stay in your own home for longer.

• Stability: you can maintain contact with friends and your local community.

• You aren't alone: you and your family can be rest assured that you’re being looked after and aren’t alone.

• Flexibility: home care services are flexible and you can have as little, or as much, help as you need. 

• Standards: care providers must be registered with national regulators who check that they are working to set standards and, in England, rate their services.

• Cost: receiving care at home might be a lot cheaper than moving into a care home, depending on the amount of care needed.

• Pets: if you have pets, they can continue to live with you.
