• Feelings of loneliness
• Lacks a social support network
• Is comfortable having a chat on the phone

Where will my friend be located when they call?

Your friend will be based at The Round House in Ashington, which is where our office is based.

How will you match me with my friend?

The Friendship Line matching process is very straightforward.

When you sign up and register, we will asses your profile and match you with a suitable volunteer.

How will my friend contact me?

Your details will be stored on our secure computer system and your friend will access your telephone number from here. They will not be able to access these details when they aren't volunteering.

What if my friend and I don't get along, can I change my friend?

Sometimes it may take time to build a relationship with your telephone friend. You will have been matched on your shared interests, so we recommend having a few calls before making a judgment.

If you're really struggling then please let us know and we'll talk you through the options available.

How will I know my friendship is safe?

We want to make sure everything’s safe and secure, so before you receive a call from your telephone friend we will have:

• Asked them to provide two references.
• Checked that their name and date of birth matches at their address, and that they are who they say they are.
• Asked them to declare any unspent criminal convictions.
• Asked them to agree with our terms and conditions.

Will my number or personal details be used for anything other than The Friendship Line?

Unless you give us consent to contact you about our other services, we will only use your personal details for The Friendship Line service.
