How your organisation can get involved

Every £5 that you raise will fund one telephone Befriending Call in the county but £30,000 would sponsor the whole Friendship Line and help hundreds of older people in Northumberland. At the end of the sponsorship, we would be able to provide you with statistics for the number of older people that have benefitted from the service and how you have helped them. If the sponsorship option isn’t for you, you could pledge to fundraise a certain amount towards the Friendship Line and your name would be included on our online and offline promotional materials as a supporter of the service.

Age UK Northumberland offers a free and confidential information and advice service for older people, their families and carers. In 2019/2020 the service helped 4,630 people and claimed £1,987,438 in annualised benefit gains. Each day it costs £500 to run the service from our Head Office in Ashington and we are inviting local groups and businesses to support the service by sponsoring a day in Information and Advice. Your employees would be invited along to the charity to see how the Information and Advice service works, there would be a social media takeover of our accounts, focusing on your organisation and how you have supported our central service, as well as promoting your brand and services.

We have lots of opportunities for organisations to sponsor our events, helping you build profile and show committment to the community of Northumberland.

Could you display a collection tin in your office or shop? This would help us to collect much needed donations to continue our vital work in Northumberland.

Payroll Giving is an easy‚ tax effective way for your employees to make a regular donation to support Age UK Northumberland and help make a difference to people in later life. At the end of the year, we will be able to give each of your employees that signs up, a rundown of how they have helped older people in Northumberland.

There may be opportunities for your organisation to provide Age UK Northumberland with gifts in kind for example raffle prizes, advertising or editorial in your corporate literature, offering places on in-house training courses. There are lots of ways that you can help simply by sharing your expertise with staff and volunteers.

If you would like to donate a piece of equipment, we would be very grateful. We usually need raiser chairs for people in our day centre, kitchen equipment for our lunch clubs, and computer equipment for our staff.

There are a number of volunteering opportunities at Age UK Northumberland for your employees: they can spend a day in one of our day centres or lunch clubs. Office based staff could come and help us to handle the calls at The Round House in Ashington or join us as a befriender at Social Fridays. We are always looking for friendly fundraisers to join us at events too! All volunteers will be given an induction from our Volunteer Co-Ordinator and their experiences will be promoted throughout our newsletters, website and social media. All of the volunteering opportunities will help lonely older people through befriending and helping us to spend more quality time with those in our care.

We hold lots of fundraising events and campaigns to help raise funds to help our older generation live their best life. One of our most successful campaigns has been, ‘There’s Always Time For Tea’, where we invite community groups and organisations to invite a neighbour for tea to raise money for the charity.
