Age UK Northumberland's Search for Volunteers

Published on 26 June 2024 02:20 PM

Age UK Northumberland, is excited to announce three new volunteer opportunities aimed at enhancing the lives of the over 50s in the South East of the county.  This is an exciting opportunity for volunteers to gain experience working within the community and build on their knowledge and expertise to make a difference.

The roles that Age UK Northumberland is recruiting for include Community Ambassadors, Exercise Instructors and Befrienders and each role will be fully supported with a programme of training and shadowing.

Volunteer Community Ambassadors:

Age UK Northumberland is looking for people with a deep understanding of the South East Northumberland area to serve as Volunteer Community Ambassadors. These ambassadors will play an important role in promoting our services and connecting with their local communities.

Volunteer Exercise Instructors:

We are searching for friendly and confident Volunteer Exercise Instructors to lead weekly exercise classes tailored to the needs of older adults. This role offers the opportunity to empower individuals to stay active and maintain their physical health in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Volunteer Befrienders:

The role of a Volunteer Befriender is to engage with local people within the community, providing some time to chat and share a cuppa.

The project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund with the North East Combined Authority as the lead authority.

Jill Lloyd, Head of Charitable Services for Age UK Northumberland said:

“We’re really excited to welcome new volunteers into these three very important roles.  Lots of training and support will be provided to make sure that our volunteers have the support they need to make a difference and we can’t wait to welcome them in!”
