This means they are accountable to the people they serve in Northumberland and North Tyneside and have greater freedoms to plan local services and respond to the needs and wishes of their communities.

As a foundation trust, they are authorised and regulated by independent regulators including NHS Improvement and the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
