Whitley Bay's Lockdown Carnival
Published on 11 May 2020 05:10 PM
In response to local demand Whitley Bay Carnival will be running an alternative Whitley Bay Lockdown Carnival online on Saturday 23rd May. They hope to be raising morale and community togetherness and hope you will all join in.
You can find out more by responding to the Lockdown Carnival event on the Whitley Bay Carnival facebook page @whitleybaycarnival . They are able to do this as a result of the Whitley bay Big Local Creative Civic Change programme and www.Whitleybaybiglocal.org has a creative civic change blog and their youtube channel is archiving all the relevant videos
People are asked to: dress up themselves and their home or garden, have a go at making things, dance and sing and share their efforts with Whitley Bay Carnival . They will have the lockdown disco truck roaming the Whitley Bay streets on the 23rd, planning a live feed mix of chat, live sessions and pre recorded material on line and hoping for lots of celebration noise at 2pm so we can all hear each other
Whitley Bay Carnival are sharing a 'how to make a video' video and running some online zoom classes in the lead up to the event.
Whitleybay Loves Art, who would have been running the carnival artists village at carnival, have moved the market online and will be streaming video and posts on the 23/24 May ...check out @lockdownartmarket on Instagram.
