Take the sit-to-stand challenge for National Fitness Day 23rd September 2020
Can you do as many sit-to-stands as there are seats on a bus; in a coffee shop or in a cinema?
What is a sit-to stand?
- Take an ordinary chair,
- Sit in it
- Stand up.
- Congratulations! You've done 1 sit-to-stand.
We’re challenging the people of North Tyneside collectively to do as many sit-to-stands in their homes as there are seats in St James' Park football stadium.
This inclusive challenge can be completed alone, with family, with friends, indoors or outdoors! The aim is to complete as many sit-to-stands as possible in the run up to National Fitness Day.
By the end of the 23rd of September, we are aiming to have collectively completed enough sit-to-stands to fill the seats at St James’ Park!
We are going to work collectively to hit targets and also set some individual goals for people to work towards. By getting involved we hope that you will see just how easy it is to incorporate some extra physical activity into your day.
The individual goals that you can set yourself are:
- Seats on a single deck bus – 24 (3 sit-to-stands per day)
- Seats in a coffee shop- 40 (5 sit-to-stands per day)
- Seats in a small cinema screen- 80 (10 sit-to-stands per day)
These are the collective goals we are going to aim for:
- Newcastle City Hall – 2135 seats
- Utilita arena – 6000 seats
- reach above or beyond the number of seats in St James’s park - 52,388 seats
Sit-to-stands can be done anytime and anywhere, and you will likely be doing a few throughout your day too, so why not add in some extra ones to improve your fitness too?!
To get involved, join us on the 'Friends of Age UK North Tyneside Facebook group', where we will be posting daily updates and announcing our total on the 23rd September.
We would also love to see any videos or picture of you, your family and friends taking part so please share on our social media platforms!
We look forward to seeing and hearing you all take part.
