Jake Towers - generous 3D printer
Published on 22 April 2020 05:17 PM
Jake Towers a young engineer from Blyth was recently furloughed during COVID-19, appreciating the need for PPE within both the NHS and local care providers he set about making face visors with his 3D printer at home.
The operation was made possible by generous donations from the USA, Germany , the Netherlands and locally from Blyth and Cramlington.
Jake who has a degree in chemical engineering wanted to help make a difference while he had time available.
So far the generous young man has made 1400 visors which are in use locally with the NHS and social care provision. Jake kindly donated 200 visors to Age UK North Tyneside and EveryDay Care at Home. You can see Jake and his 3D pirnters in action in the You tube video below from North East Live on Tyne and Wear TV.
And more grateful thanks to:
- Roger O'Brien & AMAP - University of Sunderland for their donation of 250 face shields received last week. They will be going straight out to protect our #keyworkers and wonderful North Tyneside customers.
- John Devitt and Recovery4Life for your kind donation of hand sanitisers and PPE masks to Age UK North Tyneside. Our care teams will be using them in our Extra Care Schemes and when they visit customers in the community.
