Blue Badge Renewals in North Tyneside
Published on 07 May 2020 05:36 PM
Information from North Tyneside Council
Due to COVID-19, there is a delay in processing some applications to renew Blue Badges. To ensure that Blue Badge Holders do not experience any disruption to accessibility as a consequence of the delay, the Department for Transport have advised all local authorities parking teams that they should consider not issuing Penalty Charge Notices to citizens using the Blue Badge concessions when using Blue Badges with an expiry date of 1st January 2020 onwards. They further suggest that this relaxation of enforcement against expired Blue Badges should continue initially until 30 September 2020.
North Tyneside Council are happy to comply with this guidance. If you have a Blue Badge which has an expiry date of 1st January 2020 onwards and you are unable to submit an application you can continue to use your badge until 30th September 2020. Please be aware that this only applies to Council managed parking areas within North Tyneside and does not include private car parks such as hospitals and supermarkets etc. Please approach the relevant Local Authority for clarity on their policy if you use your Blue Badge outside of North Tyneside.
