IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM NORTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL’S COMMISSIONING MANAGER

Hi all

See important announcement below.  Please spread this message as widely as possible.

Hello everyone

I am writing in relation to some information we have received about a bogus caller in Killingworth. The following has been reported to us:

“one of our service users in Killingworth received a call from a gentleman claiming he was from the Northumbria water board, he said there had been a burst pipe in the area and he needed to check the water. He entered the property and went into the kitchen turning on the taps, he also said if they had drank any water in the last 15 minutes they would need to contact their GP. Fortunately this lady lives with her husband and found this very strange. After the gentleman left they contacted the water board to be informed that no problems had been reported in the area and no burst pipes. After this the lady also contacted the police”

Our safeguarding team has been made aware of this and they are contacting all of our social care teams. Could you please pass this information on within your own organisation as appropriate.

Thank you

Kind regards

Leanne Fairbairn
