What is it?
Giving Tuesday is the day to do good stuff for charity. One day to make a world of difference.
GivingTuesday aims to get people thinking of others in the run up to Christmas through donating to charity, volunteering or helping out another person, and is a focus for Age UK North Tyneside this year.
Alma Caldwell, Chief Executive, Age UK North Tyneside, said: “So many people feel under pressure to overspend at Christmas and are left with the burden of debt and often unwanted gifts of no use or need - the ‘gift of giving’ can be so much more meaningful.
“We are supporting #GivingTuesday locally and asking others to do the same by making a contribution to charity in some small way, for example a small donation of their time or money.
“Every ‘gift’ to Age UK North Tyneside on #GivingTuesday - 27 November - will make not only you but a lonely older person smile and know they are not forgotten.”

History
Giving Tuesday arrived in the UK in 2014. Since then, the day has gone on to become one of Britain’s biggest days for charities, raising millions of pounds for good causes.
Giving Tuesday now runs in over 70 countries around the world including the US, Canada, Russia, Germany, Spain, Singapore, Australia and Brazil.
