AGE UK NORTH CRAVEN:Job Description
Job Title: Age UK North Craven Transport Coordinator
Salary: NJC scale point, 13. £25,979.00 full time equivalent.
Hourly rate, £13.60 per hour.
Hours: 23 hours per week – Monday to Friday, hours to be agreed (with occasional evening and weekends).
Responsible to: Chief Officer
Responsible for: Age UK North Craven Transport Volunteers.
Location: Based at Age UK North Craven, Settle, with occasional travel across North Craven
Job Purpose:
- To be responsible for the development and operation of all Age UK North Craven community based Transport Services
- To maintain an overview of Community Transport as it affects older people in North Craven and identify areas of need.
- To contribute to the wider aims and activities of Age UK North Craven.
Role description
- To receive and manage individual requests for Age UK North Craven Community Transport Services, including but not limited to the Community Car Scheme, Shopping Shuttles, Access to Groups and Activities and Day Trips.
- To ensure people are aware of any charges that may be incurred for transport services.
- To ensure all requests for transport are recorded correctly using Age UK North Craven systems and processes and that all people using the services are on the organisation's database with appropriate consent.
- To support and develop a pool of volunteer drivers and that they are fully aware of their role and responsibilities, including keeping records of mileages covered and that all licence, insurance, driving regulations and training requirements are met.
- To support the Office manager in the production of bills for people using the Transport services and for Volunteer Expenses.
- To listen to volunteer drivers feedback and respond to any concerns or ideas as appropriate.
- To be willing to complete MIDAS training, to be able to drive Age UK North Craven vehicles and other training as appropriate.
- To produce reports on the service both internally and externally as required. Including quarterly community car scheme usage data for North Yorkshire County Council and the re re-fuelling of vehicles so that quarterly returns to BSOG for fuel rebates can be made.
- To be responsible for legalities related to running minibus transport (tax, insurance, Section 19 licensing, Blue Badge etc.) Ensuring roadworthiness by regular servicing including the tail-lift and fire extinguisher servicing.
- To follow Age UK North Craven Policies and Procedures
- To be aware of transport budgets and to keep records as required to support the management of the service including income and expenditure and ensure all Age UK North Craven Finance policies and procedures are adhered to.
- To maintain good relations with providers of bus storage, staff of depot etc.
- To produce, manage and promote regular programmes of trips. and courier availability
- To liaise with partners who organise their own trips and participants and to ensure all appropriate records are kept for all journeys they make using Age UK North Craven vehicles.

- To identify and prioritise personal development needs and agree, with your line manager, how these should best be met to ensure the project objectives are achieved.
- Other such duties as may be required that are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post.
