As a charity, we are hugely grateful for every donation of clothes, books and bric-a-brac

Without the money brought in by our shops and we would not be able to make such a difference to thousands of lives in Northamptonshire every year.  We love items that are in a safe, useable condition: clothes, toys, books, bric-a-brac, jewellery, vinyls and other vintage and retro items.

All clothing can be re-used or recycled

We welcome good quality designer clothes but we can also accept clothing that is no longer suitable for wearing.  Local Age UK charities are one of the largest recyclers of clothing in the UK.  If you are having a clear-out and would like the unwanted clothing to go to a good home, please take it to one of our charity shops.  We can accept all kinds of clothing: trousers, pullovers, blazers and shirts, plain or with badges and logos.

Books too

We can also accept books of all kinds.  If we cannot sell a book we can still raise money from it without sending it to landfill.

Mobile phones and foreign currency

We welcome all your unwanted mobile phones, no matter how unfashionable.  Foreign coins and notes of any age are also valuable to us.  We can't accept them as payment, of course, but we can put them to good use.

Commodes and medical equipment

For health and safety reasons we do not sell commodes, toilet frames and similar equipment in our shops.  If you wish to donate equipment, and it is unused or in very good condition, please contact Roger Harris in our Trading Department as he may be able to accept certain items.  Call him on 01604 631030.

Helmets and car seats

We regret we are unable to accept any type of safety helmet (cycle, motorcycle, riding) even when brand new.  We cannot sell child car seats or booster seats.

Disposing of broken equipment costs money

Landfill legislation means we are not allowed to dispose of unsaleable equipment locally. Paying huge disposal costs for items that do not pass our stringent electronic testing means we cannot risk taking goods that do not work.  Please ensure your donated items are in a safe, saleable condition. Some things just have to go to the tip -  there are nine household waste recycling centres in Northamptonshire.

Bulk donations

If you have a lot of bags of clothing, or a large quantity of bric-a-brac or books, that you'd like to donate to Age UK Northamptonshire, we may be able to collect them from your home in Northamptonshire.  We are also able to collect items of furniture if they are in a safe, saleable condition.

Supporting the local community

All the money we raise is spent on services and support provided within the county of Northamptonshire.  Our shops are businesses that pay tax, rent and other costs that support the local economy.  If you no longer need an item but think someone else could make use of it, the chances are we can sell it.  We are now able to collect items of furniture from properties in Northamptonshire but please call us to find out more.

Donating to Age UK Northamptonshire is a great way to help the environment by re-using and recycling goods instead of taking them to the tip.  Charity shops are a fabulous way to de-clutter your home without feeling guilty about creating waste.  If you no longer need an item or have changed your lifestyle, or perhaps your teenager no longer needs all that pink flowery stuff, we will put your unwanted items to good use.

The income from our shops is vital to us; without it we would not be able to provide many of our services.  We are a charity and constantly need to raise money.  If you donate your unwanted items to us you are helping to make a difference to the lives of local older people.

Thank you for your support.

We need your donations.

Static donations collections

Look out for us next year!

Our collection van could be in a car park near you.

Please call Yvette Prior on 01604 636736 if you'd like to host a static donations collection at your car park or other premises in Northamptonshire.

We were in Chapel Brampton in July.

Your good quality bric-a-brac, clothes, toys, books and other saleable items helps us raise vital funds in our shops to support local older people.
