Bereavement Community Lead Counsellor
Location: based at Waterside House in Irthlingborough and The William and Patricia Venton Centre in Northampton
Rate of pay: £33,650 per annum full time equivalent (post April 2025, full time - 37 hours)
Hours: 30 hours per week
About the role
Age UK Northamptonshire is setting up a new bereavement service, the Bereavement Community. We aim to provide a counselling service to enable clients to regain and maintain control over their lives. This role will be responsible for leading the service, setting up and facilitating bereavement groups, supporting student counsellors and bereavement volunteers and has line management responsibility. You will also deliver up to five 1:1 counselling sessions a week.
Full counselling notes must be kept by the counsellor in line with BACP and GDPR regulations.
About you
We need someone with line management and project management experience. You must have excellent listening and communication skills and be compassionate. You will need to have patience and a calm manner, and the ability to cope with emotional situations. We are looking for someone with an understanding of mental health issues and issues affecting older people.
