A happy team is vital to the success of any venture;
We were delighted that the Mayor of Higham Ferrers Cllr Nigel Brown accepted our request to cut the ribbon at the Grand Opening of our shop in Higham Ferrers High Street on Friday 27th January. Our Chief Executive Chris Duff and Chair of Trustees Paul Bertin were on hand to welcome special guests to our newest shop. Guests included the Leader of Higham Ferrers Town Council Cllr Pam Whiting, Cllr Tina Reavey and Cllr Sean Prosser, as well as Nina Wilson of local solicitors Wilson Browne.
Chris explained that the charity is particularly pleased to be joining the thriving community of independent shops in this part of the county, and we are grateful for the goodwill that has been shown to us at every stage of setting up the shop.
We can only run thriving, money-raising shops that support the charity's work thanks to our fantastic team of volunteers and staff, and of course our generous donors and loyal customers. If you, or a family member or friend, are interested in volunteering in any of our shops, please get in touch on 01604 611200.
We were delighted that Joey Coleman, managing director of Colemans and the daughter of founder John, and her friend and long-time employee Karen Holmes [far left] were able to attend our Grand Opening. It was a bittersweet moment for Joey who was given a guided tour by our Kettering shop manager Nerissa Haimes. Joey said she was glad that the shop would be raising money for a local charity whose aims she very much supports.
Thank you to the Mayor and to the Leader of Higham Town Council Cllr Pam Whiting, Cllr Tina Reavey and Cllr Sean Prosser for attending our Grand Opening. Paul Bertin was delighted to bring them up-to-date with recent developments at the charity and express our gratitude for their interest and support.
Staff members Sharon Hepplescott and Caroline Gooch were pleased to chat to Nina Wilson of Wilson Browne [far right] who have offices in Higham Ferrers and have been very supportive of Age UK Northamptonshire.
Retail Development Manager Yvette Prior [far left] presented special thank you bouquets to Assistant Manager Chrissy Nash and Shop Assistant Ann Milne, in acknowledgment of all their hard work in getting the shop up and running. And we look forward to many successful years of trading, encouraging re-use and recycling, and raising funds that will help improve life for thousands of local older people.
