Drive and determination led to this day
Our Age Well Coordinator, Neil Mitchell, was pleased to represent Age UK Northamptonshire at the much delayed Grand Opening of Brackley Medical Centre on Saturday 13th May. Dr Paul Parsons [pictured right] said "Within this building we have an exemplar of what first-class medical care at local level can look like – integrated services complementing each other and providing a one-stop shop here in Brackley for the majority of folks’ day-to-day medical needs.
“Those of us who have been involved in dreaming, planning and building this project are justifiably proud of what has been achieved. But I am particularly proud of the fact that this building is not the result of some high-level central policy and planning process; it has not been dropped into Brackley as a done deal from on high. It is only here because of the drive and determination of a small number of local people who have doggedly pursued a vision.”
Hazel Reddy, known as Bunty [pictured above], was the guest of honour invited to cut the ribbon. At 105 years old she is the oldest registered patient at the practice. She explained that she puts her longevity down to "Happiness, good family and a regular gin and tonic."
The event was well attended by people who use the medical centre as well as representatives from local community groups, such as Jan [pictured above with Neil] from Men in Sheds Brackley.
