Generous donors filled the van at our static donations collection
We were delighted to see so many people at the Buckby Library & Hub car park on Tuesday 3rd August. The coronavirus pandemic has meant that our shops were closed for many months and it has been difficult for people to bring their donations of clothes, toys, books and bric-a-brac to us.
We were able to organise our first ever static donations collection in Long Buckby thanks to the support of volunteer Jo Watson and the team at the library and hub. We would like to thank the many people who brought along their good quality, saleable items, as well as everyone who helped publicise the event. Our team of four arrived at the car park in Long Buckby at 10am and by 1pm the van was full.
Thank you to the volunteers at Buckby Library & Hub.
Deputy Shop Manager Marion Wilson who was in charge on the day estimates around 35 people came along with their donations, some by car, many on foot carrying several carrier bags. “It was great to see parents encouraging their children to re-use and recycle by bringing them along to our temporary donation station. Donating unwanted items to charity is a fantastic way to make a positive difference to your community,” says Marion.
Nearly 20 people signed up to Gift Aid, which makes a huge difference. Every item we are able to sell in our seven shops in Northamptonshire raises vital income that supports older people in the county.
