Your support makes a difference

We were delighted to learn that Helen Williams, President of The Inner Wheel Club of Kettering Huxloe, had chosen Age UK Northamptonshire as the charity she would be supporting during her term of office.  Over the past year, during the coronavirus pandemic and in exceptional circumstances, the club has managed to organise virtual fundraising events and found other ways to raise a magnificent total of £1,000 for Age UK Northamptonshire.

Helen said "I am delighted to support Age UK Northamptonshire as my charity.  Although I have been aware of them for several years, I was truly surprised by the amount of help and services they offer. I particularly support the befriending service, as my late widowed father, living several hours travel from his family, benefited from such a service, bringing support to him and reassurance to the family."

Helen kindly presented the cheque to our chief executive Chris Duff and chairman Julia Faulkner [above left] in the lovely garden at the Baptist Church Rooms in Rockingham Road on Monday 21st June.  The location was chosen as it is where Day Care Manager Mark Morgan and his team provide support, group activities and a freshly-cooked hot meal to local older people five days a week. 

Also present for the presentation was Thi Thu Nguyen who will take over as President of The Inner Wheel Club of Kettering Huxloe from next month.

Chris Duff expressed his gratitude to The Inner Wheel club members and said that donations such as theirs are vital to the charity, enabling us to carry on making a positive difference in Northamptonshire every year.
