Northampton students say "We want to help and support you"
We say a huge thank you to students at Abbeyfield School for thinking of older people in their community at this difficult time. As well as raising a magnificent £1,082 for Age UK Northamptonshire, the students also donated a supply of essential groceries and made special cards with kind messages for our clients. The cards will be especially welcome as many older people are feeling more isolated and anxious than usual because of the current need to stay away from friends and family.
The cards remind older people in Northamptonshire that they have not been forgotten and that younger people in the community are thinking of them and wishing them well.
Siona Robson, Principal of Abbeyfield School speaks for us too when she says "I am so proud of our fabulous students and staff. It has, despite everything, been such a positive, purposeful day. As a school we raised £1,082 for Age UK Northamptonshire. This is an incredible sum considering we had depleted numbers. Students also made cards with lovely, positive messages for the elderly who are self-isolating. We will get these and some food parcels to Age UK Northamptonshire for distribution."
Thank you to all the students and their parents, and also to the teachers, who are making such a positive difference to their community.
