Laura Graham says volunteering helped her feel less lonely
An ITV Anglia report on Wednesday 26th February featured a recent YouGov survey of more than 2,000 people which found that nearly nine in ten (88%) young British adults aged between 18-24 experienced some form of loneliness. That compares to 70% for people aged over 55.
Age UK Northamptonshire's Business Relationship Manager Laura was interviewed for the ITV report because it was through volunteering for the charity that she met new people and found that putting her spare time to good use helped her feel less lonely. Laura was filmed chatting to clients at our Venton Centre, who themselves benefit from meeting up with friends and taking part in activities at our day centre.
