Christmas is a time for giving in Northamptonshire
Age UK Northamptonshire is always pleased to be able to bring good cheer to local older people by passing on generous donations of Christmas goodies from local businesses. Every year we are heartened by the thoughtfulness of people in Northamptonshire who want to let older people know they have not been forgotten.
We say thank you to Maggie and the team at Tesco Weston Favell social club for their gift of £300, and to Tesco who donated an extra £200 to be spent on of art supplies for our Thursday Art Group. We were also able to buy puzzle books for our Support Services at Northampton General Hospital and Kettering General Hospital. Our staff can use the puzzle books to keep older vulnerable patients occupied, helping them to cope with being in unfamiliar surroundings.
We say thank you to the lovely staff at Nationwide in Moulton Park for raising a magnificent £218.46 with a fundraising tombola and samosa sale.
Thank you to the six friendly visitors from Worldpay who called by to chat to our clients at the Venton Centre. Vena and Pat (above with Ford and Tom) say it is always a treat to meet new people and to get a glimpse into a different world.
Mark Morgan, Manager of our Four Seasons day centre, says: "On behalf of the clients, staff and volunteers of Four Seasons I would like to thank Bishop Stopford School in Kettering for the wonderful hampers. They were much appreciated by us and by our clients. The hampers brought many smiles when we gave them out. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone at the school for your very generous gifts."
A large thank you to the Lions Club of Northampton and to local residents for their generous donations of Christmas goodies. Once again over 300 older people living in Northampton will be delighted to receive a Christmas shopper full of festive treats and groceries.
Clients at our day centre at Jubilee House in Bugbrooke were thrilled to receive some unexpected Christmas gifts donated by Sainsbury's in the Grosvenor Centre in Northampton.
