Christmas carols at The Peartree Centre

Thank you for a wonderful afternoon of carol singing and friendship

Age UK Milton Keynes says thank you to the Milton Keynes Salvation Army Band & Songsters for bringing their music and community spirit to The Peartree Centre on Sunday 1st December.  Every year we try to give local older people the opportunity to sing Christmas carols and listen to festive music in a warm, supportive atmosphere.  Many older people are not able to attend church services or other traditional events, perhaps because of poor health, lack of transport or losing their confidence, and they miss the joy of singing familiar songs in company.

Nearly 40 of us enjoyed a lovely afternoon of singing Christmas songs, both religious and secular, and listening to music by the Salvation Army Band.  There was also time to drink tea and nibble a mince pie and to enjoy a chat on a cold December afternoon.  It is not Christmas yet but this was the perfect way to begin Advent and to reflect on the events of the past year together.
