Age UK Mid Mersey to Launch New Dementia Support Programme Across Four Boroughs
Published on 15 April 2025 09:36 AM
Age UK Mid Mersey is set to introduce a new Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) programme later this year, aimed at supporting older adults living with mild to moderate dementia or cognitive impairment in Halton, Knowsley, St Helens, and Warrington.
MCST is a weekly group-based programme that offers participants the opportunity to engage in meaningful and stimulating activities designed to help maintain memory and mental functioning. Activities include discussions, word games, quizzes, physical activities, and creative and musical exercises, all within a fun and supportive environment where individuals can build new friendships.
The programme has been successfully implemented by other Age UK partners, demonstrating its effectiveness in enhancing cognitive function and social interaction among participants.
Thanks to dedicated funding, this new programme will be delivered over the next three years, significantly expanding our dementia support offer in the region. The funding has enabled the charity to successfully recruit a dedicated team, including Group Facilitators and a Team Leader, to deliver the programme and ensure the highest quality of support for participants.
For more information about the MCST programme or to express interest in participating, please call us on 0300 003 1992 or email us at MCST@aukmm.org.uk
