Support Age UK Manchester: Donate Clothes and Furniture to Make a Difference

Published on 13 January 2025 11:00 AM

We are passionate about supporting and empowering older people in Manchester to make the most of later life.

Our five charity shops play a vital role in raising funds to support our services. But we need your help to continue to support older people and to look for ways that we can address challenges that older people face, such as loneliness.

That's why we're calling on local residents to donate their pre-loved clothes and furniture to our shops.

Every sale from donation goods goes straight to supporting older people. Donating your unwanted goods not only helps us a charity, it also provides an easy way for you to clear out your home, and to save waste by donating, rather than throwing items away.

Why Your Donations Matter

Your unwanted items can make a significant difference to the lives of older people in Manchester. Every donation we receive helps us to raise vital funds for our services, including:

  • Our free Information & Advice service, which helps people with benefit claims, accessing social care services and more;
  • Our care services, which support people in their homes and at our day centres;
  • Our free counselling service, which helps older people seeking help with anxiety/stress, depression, bereavement, loneliness, self-esteem, trauma/abuse and ill health.

As a non-profit organisation, sales that we make from donated items provide an essential source of income. Every donation goes some way to helping older people in Manchester.

What We Accept:

We accept a wide range of items at our shops, including:

  • Gently used clothing, accessories, and textiles;
  • Furniture, including sofas, chairs, and tables;
  • Household items, such as kitchenware, linens, and electrical appliances;
  • Books, CDs, DVDs, and other media.

Did you know that we have an upcycling project? The project was founded so we can repurpose damaged furniture and clothes into beautiful new items. Which helps us to cut waste and protect the environment.

How to Donate:

Donating to us is easy.

You can pop into one of our five shops, or our donation station in Didsbury Village. Our shops are located in Didsbury, Gorton, Harpurhey, Northenden, and Withington.

For larger donations, such as furniture, we offer a free donation collection service. All you need to do for this is to call us on 0161 637 2337 to arrange a collection from your home.

Your donations of clothes and furniture can make a real difference to the lives of older people in Manchester. We rely on your generosity to continue providing vital services and support.

So please, if you have any items that you don’t want anymore, donate to us today to help us make a positive impact in Manchester.
