Job Vacancy at our Didsbury shop

We are looking for a motivated, energetic and dynamic individual to act as Deputy Shop Manager, assisting the Shop Manager to run an attractive, profitable charity shop to generate funds for activities supporting Manchester’s older people.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference and work in our new shop that has a focus on vintage and upcycled goods. It would be an ideal weekend job for those passionate about retail, upcycling and fashion.

The role will be based at our charity shop in Didsbury, with the possibility of overtime at our shop in Northenden.

The ideal candidate will be honest, trustworthy and have:

• Retail experience
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Good record keeping skills
• Good standard of numeracy

The role includes duties such as: 

• Assisting the manager, generating income from the charity shop for the benefit of older people in the city of Manchester
• Responsibility for the management of a charity shop in the absence of the Shop Manager, including the supervision of volunteers, the management and pricing of the stock, and the taking of cash from sales
• Ensuring that the Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety policies of Age UK Manchester, as they apply to the shop situation, are adhered to
• Working with other members of the team to improve the effectiveness of Age UK Manchester, providing relief cover for other members of the team
