The Fit as a Fiddle project has now come to an end. To find out about our current campaign to make London an Age-friendly City, please click here.
Age UK London was part of the nationwide Fit as a Fiddle programme, funded by the Big Lottery. The programme supported sustainable lifestyle changes leading to improved health, reduced isolation and greater independence.
The focus of the London programme was on individuals and communities who aren’t reached by traditional health promotion messages and whose needs are not met by mainstream health and leisure provision.
The projects were delivered in partnership with trained volunteers from minority community groups, who were given the skills, knowledge and confidence to lead activities and to act as mentors and ambassadors within their communities.
The fit as a fiddle programme in London has now come to an end, but there are many local initiatives now running as a result. To find out about health and fitness activities in your borough, check to see what services are offered by your local Age UK.
