Who can get the free flu jab?
Flu can lead to serious complications and hospital visits, especially for those with an underlying condition. Older Londoners are more vulnerable to the flu virus in our busy city.
Flu vaccination is the best defence against the flu and is free if you are:
- 65 years or over
- Living in a residential or nursing home
- A carer of an older or disabled person
- A frontline care worker
- An NHS worker
- Living with a long term health condition
- Living with a weakened immune system
The rate of flu vaccination in London is worryingly low, particularly amongst those aged over 65. In fact, the World Health Organisation’s target of vaccinating 75% of people aged 65 years and over continues to be woefully unmet by the majority of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). If you meet any of the above criteria, go and get your free flu jab today!
Flu season can last right through to April, so it is never too late to get your free flu jab! Ask you GP or Pharmacist for your free flu jab today!
