Southwark Mayor lays time capsule

New Southwark Mayor Charlie Smith has laid a time capsule at Age UK Lewisham and Southwark's Stones End Day Centre in Southwark, and unveiled a spectacular mural in the garden. The time capsule and the mural are the culmination of an exciting project, which saw Age UK Lewisham and Southwark team up with their corporate partner Pool Re, and the artist Eleanor Shipman.
Shipman brought together members of Stones End Day Centre and students from Notre Dame Girls School to create the capsule through collaborative dialogue during a series of workshops. The mural was then created by Shipman as a decorative piece to brighten up the outside space used by many of the older people that use the centre, based on this work.
You can find a beautifully illustrated timeline of the project here.
A story on the project was also featured in Southwark News.
